Brownlow, Coppola, Godard and Wallach to Receive Academy’s Governors Awards

Beverly Hills, CA — The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted last night to present the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to producer-director Francis Ford Coppola and Honorary Awards to historian and preservationist Kevin Brownlow, director Jean-Luc Godard and actor Eli Wallach. All four awards will be presented at the Academy’s 2nd Annual Governors Awards dinner on Saturday, November 13, at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center®.
“Each of these honorees has touched movie audiences worldwide and influenced the motion picture industry through their work,” said Academy President Tom Sherak. “It will be an honor to celebrate their extraordinary achievements and contributions at the Governors Awards.”
Brownlow is widely regarded as the preeminent historian of the silent film era as well as a preservationist. Among his many silent film restoration projects are Abel Gance’s 1927 epic “Napoleon,” Rex Ingram’s “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” (1921) and “The Thief of Bagdad” (1924), starring Douglas Fairbanks. Brownlow has authored, among others, The Parade’s Gone By; The War, the West, and the Wilderness; Hollywood: The Pioneers; Behind the Mask of Innocence; David Lean; and Mary Pickford Rediscovered. His documentaries include “Hollywood,” “Unknown Chaplin,” “Buster Keaton: A Hard Act to Follow,” “Harold Lloyd: The Third Genius” and “D.W. Griffith: Father of Film,” all with David Gill; Brownlow also directed “Cecil B. DeMille: American Epic” and “Garbo,” the latter with Christopher Bird.
Coppola began his film career in the early 1960s making low-budget films with 2009 Honorary Award recipient Roger Corman. By the end of the 1970s he had won five Oscars®: Best Picture (“The Godfather Part II”); Directing (“The Godfather Part II”) and Writing (“Patton,” “The Godfather,” “The Godfather Part II”). Among his numerous producing credits are “American Graffiti, “Gardens of Stone,” “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein,” “Jack” and “Tetro.” In 1969 he established American Zoetrope, an independent film studio that helped launch the careers of George Lucas and Carroll Ballard, and has since produced more than 30 films, including “The Black Stallion,” “The Outsiders,” “Lost in Translation” and “The Good Shepherd.”
A key figure in the French New Wave movement, Godard started out writing about cinema before beginning to make his own short films. His influential first feature, “Breathless” (1960), impressed audiences and filmmakers alike with its jazzy take on the American crime film. For fifty years, Godard has continued to write and direct challenging, and sometimes controversial, films that have established his reputation as one of the seminal modernists in the history of cinema. His more than 70 features include “Contempt,” “Alphaville,” “Weekend” and “King Lear.” Godard is also credited with having influenced numerous contemporary directors, including Bernardo Bertolucci, Martin Scorsese, Steven Soderbergh and Quentin Tarantino.
Born in Brooklyn in 1915, Wallach made his debut film appearance in Elia Kazan’s 1956 feature “Baby Doll,” starring alongside Karl Malden and Carroll Baker. Since then he has starred in more than 50 features including “The Magnificent Seven,” “The Misfits,” “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” “The Godfather, Part III” and “The Holiday.” Throughout his lengthy career, Wallach has worked with such directors and actors as Francis Ford Coppola, Michael Douglas, Clint Eastwood, John Ford, Clark Gable, John Huston, Sergio Leone, Marilyn Monroe, Al Pacino, Gregory Peck and Kate Winslet. Wallach will next be seen in “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.”
The Honorary Award, an Oscar® statuette, is given to an individual for “extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.”
The Thalberg Award, a bust of the motion picture executive, is given to “a creative producer whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production.”
The Governors Awards presentation will be produced for the Academy by producer Sid Ganis with Don Mischer Productions.

After Tye auditioned for the part, Bernard rethought the character of Perry’s importance. Capitalizing on Tye’s comedic skill and incredible sex appeal, the role of Perry was reworked by Bernard to allow Tye to appear as a lead "co-star" character throughout the series.

Ken Norton-Former Heavyweight Champion Of The World Seeks The Truth

Ken Norton-Former Heavyweight Champion Of The World Seeks The Truth

Ken Norton exemplifies strength from within. In fact, when he faced Muhammad Ali in 1978, he read ''Think and Grow Rich'' by Napoleon Hill, 20 times. But Norton has faced terrible obstacles throughout his boxing career. In February 26,1986, he crashed his car on the 10 freeway and was thrown from his automobile. Then in April 21,2009, he had a quadruple by-pass. The doctors said he would never walk again. They were wrong. Ken Norton through sheer determination and Gods grace, came back to inspire kids through speaking engagements. Norton then released two books, Seek The Truth and Going the Distance.'' My life experiences, have enabled me to inspire people of all walks of life and to tell them how God blessed me.''Norton said.
Today Ken is speaking with Damian Chapa, the star of ''Brando Unauthorized, about some of his future films to be released, Chapa has always been a fan of Norton. In the early part of his career Chapa was an amateur boxer. Norton through his misfortunes", learned to face the reality of his future. He learned to seek the truth about his life and how he could benefit others from his near death experiences. Ken is finishing his new book "Seek the Truth" which will released later this year Publish Post on Amazon.
Ken Norton is the great example of how to overcome obstacles and be positive when all seems lost. Ken Norton won the Napoleon Hill Award in 1973 for positive thinking. He was inducted in The World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1989 and the " Intermational Boxing Hall of Fame" in 1992. He was inducted in  San Diego Hall of Champions Breitbard Hall of Fame in 2001, U.S. Marine Corp Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 and  WBC Hall of Fame in 2008.

DJ Ill Will Releases New Single From “Tha Alumni” Featuring Red Cafe, Ya Boy, Gorilla Zoe & The Jackie Boyz

DJ Ill Will Releases New Single From “Tha Alumni”
Featuring Red Cafe, Ya Boy, Gorilla Zoe & The Jackie Boyz

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 9, 2010) “The internet is a gift and a curse.” A phrase everyone, especially artists have said in their life. DJ's aren’t spared either. World renowned California bred DJ Ill Will is the latest victim in having his music leaked without permission.
Over the weekend, his collaboration with Red Café, Gorilla Zoe, Ya Boy and The Jackie Boyz, titled “Wish U Would” saw a premature leak. The song, off his upcoming debut Tha Alumni, was unmixed and not mastered. Today, he releases the official version.
“We decided to push it since it’s already out now”, Ill Will explains to Sermon’s Domain. “The record means a lot to me because it represents each major area of the rap geography. Red Café representing the Mecca of Hip-Hop, New York. Then you got Gorilla Zoe from the ATL (Dirty South) and Ya Boy throwing up the Dubs.”
“I wanted to make a mainstream street record that all coasts and regions could feel attached to instead of just another predictable West Coast collaboration record, which is to be expected from me. I wanted to show the world that I fuck with the East and the South just as much as the West,” says Your Wifey's Favorite DJ. “Tha Alumni” is expected to drop in 4th Quarter 2010.

Actor Greg Finley becomes the new, fresh face of Michael Wright’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection

NEW YORK, NY, August 2010 – For the new Fall/Winter 2010 season, the Michael Wright Collection has an outstanding ambassador, the young American actor Greg Finley. At just 25, Finley is making a name for himself and is best known for his role on the hit ABC Family teenage drama series, The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

During the photo shoot, which donned a yarn backdrop and took place under the direction of creative director Michael Wright, Greg revealed that he’s “very excited about the line.” Several pieces within the collection were in fact inspired by the young actor, including the Greg tee, Finley tee and Greg hoodie, all made with 100% organic cotton.

Michael Wright’s Fall/Winter collection is casual chic and concentrates on relaxed elegance, innovative materials and contemporary designs. The chromatic theme is a unique combination of earth tones and deep, dark shades; with colors ranging from chocolate brown, tan and maroon to olive, army green and navy. By using yarn to create diverse details and shapes on classic t-shirts and hoodies, the collection comes with a new style for this new season, where edginess meets traditional. These modern designs offer functional wearability that can easily go from day to evening.

“I’ve known Michael for a few years and his clothing line is so interesting,” said Finley. “He uses yarn in his designs and it’s like bringing your grandmother’s sewing to the new millennium. It’s very hip and very cool, I love the line.”

“Greg Finley is the perfect Michael Wright Collection Ambassador,” explains Wright.  “Greg’s style, personality and mass appeal make him the natural embodiment of the brand’s unique, contemporary image.”
Michael Wright Collection is one of the hottest, new brands on the fashion scene and features upscale yarn accented hoodies and t-shirts for men. The intricate, hand-crafted designs are woven throughout the fabric giving Michael Wright Collection an artistic look unlike any other.

Michael Wright Collection’s Fall/Winter 2010 line, aimed at the young fashion conscious male, is now on sale at www.michaelwrightcollection.com.
