Los Angeles. (January 18, 2011) New York City natives School of Seven Bells will bring their dream pop sensibilities and indie rock esthetic to The Conga Room on Tuesday Febraury 1, 2011 at 9 p.m., located at 800 West Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles, 90015. A KCRW Presents Event, the School of Seven Bells will make a stop in Los Angeles to perform while on their North American tour as the band travels westward to meet up with Interpol in Vancouver, BC in support of their critically acclaimed album “Disconnect From Desire.”
“Disconnect from Desire”is a complete work—an old-fashioned album from forward-thinking minds, as thematically airtight as it is mind-bendingly gorgeous. Symbols, myths, mantras—in the hands of vocalist Alejandra Deheza prevail while the band focuses on the layered electronic textures, distilling the music to its essence as guitars ring, beats crunch and Alejandra’s vocals intertwine with new, right-in-your-ears clarity.
School of Seven Bellswas born as the result of a late-night revelation. Benjamin Curtis connected with sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza in 2004 while their bands -- Secret Machines and On! Air! Library! respectively -- were on tour. While watching PBS at 3am, Alejandra caught a show about the School of Seven Bells: a mythical South American pickpocket academy that may or may not have existed in the '80s. The idea of seven minds working as one appealed to her, as did the phrase's cryptic musicality, and a creative spark ignited. To learn more about School of Seven Bells visit their official website
