is set to premiere the video of its first single, “No Importa Que El Sol Se Muera”, via Univision’s Primer Impacto on April 28, 2010 at 5 p.m. PST. Following the television premiere, the video will be released on Univision.com, the #1 portal for Spanish speakers on the Internet.
 
This dual premiere on two of Univision’s most important media channels reaffirms MOENIA’s status as an icon of Latin America-made (Mexico) electronic music for world consumption.
 
A release of the video through MOENIA’s own social networks will follow, so that the group may share this milestone with its legion of fans. The group is always interacting with fans via Twitter@MoeniaMX, where the band keeps loyal followers updated on its artistic doings, thoughts, pictures, and more.
 
 
On this video, MOENIA invited María José (former member of Kabah), to perform on their single also included on the album. The video was directed by Diego Álvarez, produced by Platform and was filmed in Mexico City.
 
“En Eléctrico” is being released on OCESA-Sei Track (Mexico) and produced by Latin GRAMMY© award winner Armando Ávila, recognized for his work with leading contemporary Latin music artists, such as La 5ª Estación, Aleks Syntek, RBD, and Moderatto, to mention a few. This album features a collection of new versions of MOENIA’s greatest hits and special & unique musical collaborations by María José (ex Kabah), Juan Carlos Lozano (ex MOENIA vocalist) and Paco Huidobro (Fobia).
 
“We included new versions of each one of our songs, a little more ‘raw’, with lots of synth, but all recorded live or programmed live, very different from a studio album where you have many sequences and other things throughout,” said Alfonso Pichardo, lead vocalist of the group.
 
As a plus, ‘En Electrico’ features a DVD in which Jorge Soto (organ) explains how the content took shape, “we played with a small crowd of 60 people, all live, so it has this vibe of a live performance but with super powerful synthesizers, drums - it’s a very interesting process, you can’t stop hearing MOENIA. It’s like an unplugged show but with a plugged feeling.”
 
With eight albums and a career that spans almost two decades, the group that is frequently compared to transcendental bands like New Order, Erasure, The Cure, and Depeche Mode has perfected a sound that mixes experimental tones and electric rhythms almost poetically and is eager to share the latest expression of it with the USA.

Film Synopsis:

The best friends are on a quest in Holly-Weird trying to make their mark on Tinseltown, and it’s all sex, lies and video tape as both women face issues when their sex lives collide with their careers. Amanda, who prides herself on substance, is faced with a decision about her career and sex life that may have the very same result; getting screwed; when Amanda decides to quit the biz and is unable to see her true value through her own eyes “The Manager” played by Sean Riggs becomes the motivation she needs to get back on track. 2010 Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Edwards Big

29, 2010.
FIVE STAR DAY stars Cam Gigandet (Twilight) as Jake Gibson, whose horoscope forecasts a
perfect ‘Five Star Day’ the morning of his birthday. Little does he realize that what’s foretold to
be a flawless ‘Five Star Day,’ unfolds to be far less than stellar when Jake’s world is turned
upside down when all that could go wrong, does. Determined that astrology has no legitimacy,
Jake embarks on a journey to test the theory of astrology by finding three people born the same
time and place as himself. Jake’s pursuit in finding his three astrological matches not only will
test his convictions, but validate how life’s unexpected twists of fate can deliver much more than

Chuck Jones Characters to Summer at the Academy

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Beverly Hills, CA — Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Pepe Le Pew, Wile E. Coyote and many other iconic characters created or developed by Oscar®-winning animator and humorist Chuck Jones (1912 – 2002) will be showcased in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ summer exhibition “Chuck Jones: An Animator’s Life From A to Z-Z-Z-Z,” opening to the public on Friday, May 14, in the Academy’s Grand Lobby Gallery in Beverly Hills. Admission is free.

Jones’s legendary and prolific career as animator, producer, director and screenwriter will be celebrated with more than 150 drawings, storyboards, cels and dialogue sheets from Jones’s animated short films, features and television specials, including “Elmer’s Candid Camera,” “For Scent-Imental Reasons,” “Duck Amuck,” “Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century,” “From A to Z-Z-Z-Z,” “What’s Opera, Doc?,” “Guided Mouse-ille” and “The Dot and the Line,” for which he (along with producer Les Goldman) won an Academy Award® in the Cartoon Short Subject category in 1965.
Jones also was nominated for the cartoon shorts “Beep Prepared” and “Nelly’s Folly,” both in 1961, and received an Honorary Award (an Oscar statuette) in 1995 “for the creation of classic cartoons which have brought worldwide joy for more than half a century.”

The exhibition is presented in association with the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, the nonprofit organization from which many items in the exhibition have been drawn. Additional loans come from the Chuck Jones Collection housed at Warner Bros.

“Chuck Jones: An Animator’s Life From A to Z-Z-Z-Z” will be on display through Sunday, August 22.

The Academy’s Grand Lobby Gallery is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills and is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and weekends, noon to 6 p.m. The gallery will be closed for the Memorial Day (May 29 and 30) and Independence Day (July 3 and 4) holiday weekends.

ABOUT LAUREN HILDEBRANDT
Lauren Hildebrandt began wowing audiences in plays and musicals when she hit the fifth grade while living in Scottsdale, AZ. Spending her youth training as a singer, dancer, actress and gymnast, Hildebrandt absolutely loved any chance she received to perform.  Hildy enjoyed her teens performing with many dance troupes, theatre groups, and cheer squads. A standout experience of the time was being an original member of celebrity choreographer Brian Friedman’s (Britney Spears, “So You Think You Can Dance,” etc.) troop “Dance Source.”  While still in high school, Hildy begged her way into a recording studio and sang on her first record.  The experience changed her life and from that night forward, Lauren Hildebrandt knew that she wanted to become a professional recording artist. 
Lauren has performed several roles with European touring companies, such as Val in A Chorus Line and Frenchie in “Grease.” Moving on to college at Arizona State, Hildy majored in dance but longed for a mainstream pop career.  About two years into her studies, she had an unfortunate dancing accident and was forced to take a medical leave of absence.  This break actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  To fill her time off from college, Lauren ventured out to Los Angeles, California.
Soon after, a friend saw a posting in Backstage West for a new “triple threat” talent competition reality show produced by Debbie Allen.  Lauren stood in line with over 5000 hopefuls and won her spot on the new “Fame” reality series.  Hildy made it all the way to the top twelve appearing on national television week after week and winning fans the world over. 
When her stint on Debbie Allen’s “Fame” came to end, Hildebrandt hit the pavement auditioning and taking many meetings with entertainment executives.  She chose to stay in California and not return to college. Not happy with the speed at which things were developing, Lauren took charge of her career and destiny. She took a job as a waitress to support herself and hit the studio to record dance tracks to perform in the clubs.  During this time, she sang back-up vocals on the Sharon Stone charity single, “Come Together” and appeared in the video.  Hildy also had the incredible experience of dancing in the Black Eyed Peas “Bebot” video as one of Fergie’s dime girl dancers.
Hildy made a huge splash in the dance world with her debut single titled “Burnin’ Out,” which hit #5 on the Billboard club play chart. The “Burnin’ Out” video, directed by Black Eyed Peas director Patricio Ginsela, helped establish her as one of the hottest newcomers on the scene.  Fans from around the world were impressed by her soulful vocals and amazing live performances.  The unbelievable popularity of Lauren Hildebrandt’s first single led to a coveted nomination as “Best New Dance Artist” in 2006 against Rihanna and Cascada at the International Dance Music Awards.

White Supremacy Rally in Los Angeles

The National Socialist Movement, an organization that supports white supremacy and racism held a rally at City Hall, City of Los Angeles, California.

ED MAGIK TV interviews some of the people who came out to support protest against the Neo-Nazi rally.

Two men were assaulted by angry protesters.
One of the men was homeless, with Nazi symbols tattooed on his upper body, passing out Nazi literature. The other man held a sign that got him in trouble with other protesters.
Both men were treated at a local hospital.

Five people were arrested for throwing eggs and rocks at police.

Carmelita Pittman, founded The Rose Breast Cancer Society, a 501.c3 non-profit organization as a Living Memorial for her multi-talented and devoted mother Juanita Zara Espinosa Uddin, who loved roses and whose life was cut short following her four year battle with breast cancer. The Rose Breast Cancer Society has produced the Annual Rose Variety Arts Show for the past twelve years and is a combination of an Art Expo, Wellness Expo and Variety Stage Show which honors a Mother of the Year. The event has served as a platform to introduce Infrared Thermography , a life saving painless, radiation free, FDA approved, breast cancer screening examination which can predict the presence of breast cancer up to ten years BEFORE a lump can form. The Rose Breast Cancer Society stresses education to promote wellness and prevention and is an arts based organization. “Breast cancer is an equal opportunity disease which cuts across all lines and genders. A former L.A. Unified School District art educator and U.S.C. and Pepperdine graduate, Carmelita Pittman who is a recording and performing artist is known as Carmelita. She has amassed several credits including various appearances on stage and screen. In 1985 she was known as Ms. C. Rappin’ Pittman ( the Rapping School Teacher) when she took half of her class into the recording studio and produced “The School of Cool” with Michael Wycoff , an RCA recording artist. The song hit the charts resulting with the appearance of she and her students on television and radio as well as a local parade. June 2001 at the invitation of the Godfather of Soul James Brown she performed at the Greek Theatre with her students from Inglewood “Opportunity” School along with a group of youngsters from the valley . Before this transpired her husband Jerry Pittman, produced her single entitled “Isn’t it Lonely” and “Rosebud” on Carmen Records which now is considered a rare collectible fetching sums of $1,000 and up per vinyl single in Northern England, Scotland, Japan and Australia. The single originally made the charts with James Brown and other noted recording artists in 1974.

Western Ave., Ranchos Palos Verdes, 90275.   Artest will have lunch, sign autographs and take photos with fans, while helping to raise money for Best Friends Animal Society’s Los Angeles area programs.  Saladish will donate fifty-percent of all net proceeds raised from sales on April 10 between the hours of 12:00 to 5:00pm, to Best Friends Animal Society.
 
Artest comments on his appearance at the event, “This is a great combination of two things I believe in – making healthy eating choices, and helping to raise awareness of the pet overpopulation crisis.  Best Friends Animal Society is also very active in the Los Angeles area, helping to place homeless animals in loving, new homes.”

Kim Zolciak and DJ Tracy Young Saga Explodes

 
It has been a roller coaster ride for International celebrity DJ Tracy Young this past year. Young moved from Miami to Los Angeles last summer with her former partner of three years. Unexpectedly, the two ended the relationship after only about a month into their new home, leaving Young completely heart-broken. 
Young, who has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Madonna, Stevie Nicks, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake (to name just a few), soon found herself picking up and moving to NYC for yet another big change and fresh start.

Beverly Hills, CA — Actors Peter Badalamenti, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Andy Serkis and Wes Studi will join several crew members from the Oscar®-winning films “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” (2008) and “Avatar” (2009) in exploring the revolutionary developments in digital technology and its impact on acting at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ presentation of “Acting in the Digital Age” on Thursday, April 22, at 8 p.m. at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
Hosted by Short Films and Feature Animation Branch governor Bill Kroyer, the program will feature actors Badalamenti (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”), Moore (“Avatar”), Pounder (“Avatar”), Serkis (“King Kong” and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogies) and Studi (“Avatar”); producer Jon Landau (“Avatar”); animation supervisor Richard Baneham (“Avatar”); character supervisor Steve Preeg (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”); stunt coordinator Garrett Warren (“Avatar”); and Paul Debevec, co-creator of Light Stage, a digital reflectance capture and rendering system that earned an Academy Scientific and Technical Award in 2009.
Presented by the Academy’s Science and Technology Council, the evening will use examples from “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “Avatar” to illustrate innovations in performance-capture technology, digital doubles, digital makeup, photorealism and image manipulation are affecting actors. Film clips and behind-the-scenes footage of the actors will be presented.
Kroyer received an Academy Award® nomination for his 1988 short film “Technological Threat,” which pioneered the technique of combining hand-drawn and computer animation. He directed the animated feature film “FernGully: The Last Rainforest” (1992), was senior animation director at Rhythm & Hues Studios in Los Angeles, and is director of digital arts at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University.

Media Giants – West Hollywood, CA (April 8, 2010) *** Rena Riffel Films announced today that DJ Tracy Young’s label, Ferosh Records, has struck a deal to work on the upcoming MGM SHOWGIRLS inspired independent feature titled SHOWGIRL.  DJ Tracy Young will be instrumental in supervising the music selection and producing original tracks to be used in the film and promotional marketing campaign.  Ferosh Records will also be handling the distribution of the SHOWGIRL soundtrack.

LOS ANGELES (April 8, 2010) – Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards, Los Angeles Film Festival, and year-round artist development programs and exhibition events, announced today that the 2010 edition of the Los Angeles Film Festival, presented by The Los Angeles Times is joining the vibrant, burgeoning independent arts community in downtown Los Angeles.  The Festival runs from June 17-27 and will encompass venues throughout the City of Los Angeles and be centered at L.A. LIVE.  The move is reflective of the Festival’s continued growth and its efforts to embrace the cultural diversity and energy of Los Angeles.  The Festival will present its screenings and events at the new Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14, the REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater), the Downtown Independent, the Soundstage Theatre at the GRAMMY Museum©, JW Marriot Hotel Los Angeles at L.A. Live, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Los Angeles, Orpheum Theatre, and California Plaza.  The Festival will also continue its tradition of nighttime screenings at the outdoor John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Hollywood and The Times will again serve as presenting partner, as it has since 2006.
Over the past 16 years, the Los Angeles Film Festival has grown from being held in one theater with 5,700 attendees to include a sprawling list of event venues that attract more than 85,000 attendees.  The Festival moved to Westwood Village in 2006 to accommodate its growing audience, which doubled in the four years it was based there.
